Making a Handmade Wardrobe: JANUARY

January was a full month for my handmade wardrobe! Here are some snapshots of the items I made!

This McCalls pattern was really fun to make and I made two different tops using an Oxford shirting and different sleeve combinations. Next time I’ll make the hem longer to tuck into skirts, but they work really well under pinafores and jumpers!

This is the Valkyria cardigan by Anna Sjösvärd Knitwear. 100% wool with silver buttons. The scarf is one I made with Quince & Co yarn, tern, from a few years ago and the skirt is a 1930’s pattern that is super easy to make and a favorite of mine! It’s made in a cotton flannel for warmth (and for some reason is crooked in this picture!)

This cotton flannel shirt dress was my first make of the new year by Laughing Moon Mercantile. The belt is a historic edwardian belt with a velvet I had in my stash and the cowl is over ten years old and 100% wool with my yarn producer favorite: Quince & Co in their bulky weight yarn “Puffin.”

I adore this walking skirt! It’s a folkwear pattern and truly a favorite of mine! The blouse is also a folkwear pattern and is their Gibson girl blouse in black. The skirt is a wool plaid from a local fabric store and the top is a cotton/linen blend.

A nice warm Sontag in a vintage wool I had lying around! I love wearing this! It’s so cozy in the winter.

The Austrian dirndl from Folkwear Patterns made as a pinafore and that same McCalls pattern with these really lovely lantern sleeves that I just adore!

And her is another combo of that wool skirt with the lantern sleeves blouse showing off a little puzzle purse I made last month in preparation for Valentine’s Day!
